Monday the 18th Humanity for Homeless will be putting on our largest meal of the year.

From local donations, we will serve ham, mashed potatoes, homemade cranberry sauce, apple pie, rolls, hot apple cider and homemade bread. Musicians are welcome as this will be a festive atmosphere. Children with adults are welcome and some will be serving. We ask anyone who wants to help or just join us to come on down - 6pm. in front of New Leaf Market on Pacific Ave Monday the 18th. We will feast and fight the Sleeping Ban while reclaiming public space.

So far, we have 100 pairs of new socks to give out and 28 blankets and many jackets and cloths. Please consider collecting socks, blankets, and sleeping bags from your neighbors as many are doing now. I will pick up any donations in Santa Cruz County or you can bring any food or clothes or other donations to the event. We will serve in front of New Leaf market as every Monday at 6:00pm, or when the Kiosk closes. Any food donations are of course welcome and appreciated.

Humanity for Homeless works without permits. We bring the food and clothing directly to the homeless. We feel it is our Constitutional Right to serve food to anyone on public property. We have had success due to the many activists jailed for feeding the homeless in the 80's and 90’s. We are ever grateful for their activism and willingness to go to jail for something they felt strongly about. They are the true heroes. Until the recent harassment of Potters Hand, the city has ignored or allowed feeding of the homeless. We fear this may change as we have noticed a rise in the draconian measures this and other areas of our County are taking against the homeless, even as Christmas looms and the cold closes in.

We demand Potters Hand be restored to the Vets Hall. This program has given hope to veterans for years. What has been done to Potters Hand is a shame and the residents of this City need to stand up and demand Potters Hand be restored.

We ask for nothing from the people we feed except to keep the area clean and be respectful to those around them. We do not turn away any human being unless they are acting violent or dangerous. This has yet to happen in our 30 + weeks of service.

Humanity for Homeless is dedicated to ending the Sleeping Ban here in Santa Cruz and reclaiming public space for the use of all. We believe we can have a Downtown for everyone without using the draconian measures the City Council has taken to push the homeless out of sight.

Please join us on Monday the 18th, bring food, musical instruments or just come on down and join us. Everyone is welcome. Anti-War and Poverty satirical caroling would be a welcome addition.
