Immigration Raid in Greeley, CO

by CO Indymedia
Since only earlier this afternoon, American mainstream networks have been reporting that there are hundreds of undocumented immigrants raided from six different meat packing plants that belong to a company named Swift, but the exact numbers of people raided were not given. The Feds say there was a one year long investigation operation on immigration violations, which included stolen or made up identification documents, such as social security numbers. The news is currently developing, but it is not repeated with much frequency any longer.

Some of the states included Colorado, Texas, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnessota, and one more.

-----------------------------

Sketchy details of an ongoing immigration raid at the Monfort plant in Greeley.
From initial emails:

ICE has the Monfort company in Greeley surrounded. They apparently have
three buses there and are not letting anyone in or out and arresting people
as they show up for work.

Latinos Unidos has asked US citizens to go there to protest and bring
signs, etc. It would also be good to get some observers to witness the
certain violations of people's civil rights.

I honestly cannot believe that they would do this two weeks before the
holidays. I am picturing all of these children getting off the schoolbus
with no one to pick them up, while their house sits empty decorated with
lights and trees and presents they will never open. Sick. Completely and
absolutely disgusting.

---------------

Fuerza Latina has a help line available to families of
people picked up by ICE. We have bi-lingual volunteers that will help locate
family member and get info about bonds, attorneys, etc. We also collect info
about the way police and ICE are treating people.

The number is 970-472-1501. Caller should leave a message and volunteer
will return their call.
