EYEWITNESS HAITI
The ongoing struggle for full human rights and real democracy
A presentation by
Pierre Labossierre, Ben Terrall, Joanna Harmon, and Seth Donnelly
of the Haiti Action Committee
Despite the popular election of René Préval as president, Haiti remains a country under brutal occupation, mired in deep poverty and terrorized by security forces, including UN occupation troops. (The presentation will include video of UN operations in Cité Soleil.) Targeted political repression against Lavalas grassroots leaders like René Civil continues with impunity. Come learn from eyewitnesses about this repression, the U.S. role, the courageous resistance by the Haitian people, and what you can do to support the restoration of true democracy in Haiti.
$5 to $10 suggested donation. Sponsored by Peninsula Peace and Justice Center.
