Bay Area Premiere of "Behind the Mask" on December 16th to
Benefit EBAA
"Behind the Mask", a new documentary focused on individuals who
take direct action to protect animals, will premiere on December
16th in Oakland. The film exposes never-before-seen footage that
reveals the extent to which these individuals will go to save the
lives of animals. This controversial documentary weaves together
the lives of people who face jail, devastation, and even death
for their ideals. Director Shannon Keith will be on-site to
present the director’s cut of the documentary. Tickets are $10 at
the door. All proceeds from the film screening will support the
work of East Bay Animal Advocates and Animal Rescue, Media &
Education.

Is it "Natural" to Abuse Animals?
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection
Service (FSIS) announced a public forum to discuss a petition to
establish a definition for the voluntary claim "natural" and to
gather comments on conditions under which the claim should be
allowed to be used on the labels of meat and poultry products.
FSIS develops and implements policies to ensure that meat,
poultry and egg product labeling is truthful and non-misleading.
Ask the FSIS to address animal welfare issues with respect to
“natural” meat and poultry guidelines. Comments may be submitted
by December 12th electronically to FSIS.RegulationsComments [at] usda.gov.

Say No to Building a Biological Weapons Agent Lab in California’s
Agricultural Heartland
Tell the Department of Homeland Security that you don’t want a
biological warfare agent research facility at Lawrence Livermore
National Laboratory or its high explosive testing range. The
University of California Regents have applied to the Department
of Homeland Security to build a bio-warfare agent research
facility at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s high
explosive testing range adjacent to the city of Tracy, Ca. This
facility may experiment with live Anthrax, “Mad Cow” Disease, and
Ebola Virus. Scientists would experiment on farm animals (i.e.
cattle, pigs, and sheep) at this facility.
