A Nov. 8 artillery assault on the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun killed 18 members of one family and left more than 40 people seriously wounded, many of whom lost limbs. At least four of the dead were young children. On the same day, a pre-dawn Israeli attack killed five Palestinians near Jenin in the northern West Bank.
