More G20 Melbourne Reuters photos

The G20 meeting is being held in Melbourne Australia in mid-November, 2006. Several large protests have taken place. One visual theme was the wearing of white clothing like during similar global economic justice protests in Italy. In one scene photographed here, police without riot pads and wearing signature ball caps, and protesters seem to be standing near each other on opposite sides of a barricade extending batons and sticks towards each other.
Overall it doesn't seem genuinely violent yet, and rather people are staging displays of emotion.
