Darrell Anderson was deployed to Iraq in the spring of 2004 and was wounded by a roadside bomb. After his recovery, he decided to flee to Canada, where he was among at least 225 U.S. soldiers who have chosen that path. After living in Canada for almost two years, he surrendered to the Army at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and has since been released with a less-than-honorable discharge.
Darrell will be joined by his mother, Anita Dennis.
We will screen segments of a powerful new movie, "The Ground Truth," which shows how young Americans are recruited, trained for combat, sent to fight in Iraq, and the difficulties they have upon their return to civilian life. A member of Courage to Resist will talk about their work supporting war resisters and refusers.
Sponsors: Courage to Resist; CoM Students for Social Responsibility; Marin Peace & Justice Coalition
Sliding scale: $5 - $10. Youth 21 and under are free.
For more info, call 415-721-2844
