1. A Reminder to Vote Today

There are important environmental issues being decided on state and
local ballots. Please cast your vote.


2. A Call for Volunteers / "Tell Pacific Steel Casting to Stop Polluting"

Help get the word out about this Saturday's rally and march against
Pacific Steel's pollution threat to the health of the community.
Help put up posters, flyer door-to-door, table, make signs and more.
Stop by or call us at the Ecology Center - we have flyers and
supplies. And of course, come on Saturday!

This Saturday, November 11, 2006
March and Rally: "Tell Pacific Steel Casting to Stop Polluting"
Please join to protest the threat to community health caused by
pollution from Pacific Steel Casting in West Berkeley. PSC is a major
chronic polluter, emitting noxious odors and toxic pollutants into
the air. Join with Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice,
Ecology Center, West Berkeley Alliance for Clean Air and Safe Jobs,
PSC Protest Committee and Global Community Monitor for a march and
rally against PSC's pollution.
Meet at 9th Street and Gilman Street, Berkeley. Time: 11am. Info:

and government stakeholders working to make Berkeley the greenest
city and a center for green business entrepreneurship and
innovation. Sustainable Berkeley builds upon two years of
collaboration that created the Sustainable Business Action Plan
endorsed by Berkeley City Council in 2004. The organization will
concentrate on a climate protection campaign for large energy users
in the first year.

yeah...i hate to tell you, but the smells from the casting factory or something like it can be detected in north oakland-- i have smelled the burnt coffee smell at 60th and Market Streets. And in my apartment in south berkeley. so moving to emeryville wouldn't solve the problem of people's health being adversely affected by the casting company's stench.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
