SF: Vote this Weekend at City Hall; P&F & Green are peace parties

by }
Openly anti-abortion, pro-war Democrats are being proudly supported by the Democratic Party in this year's congressional elections, guaranteeing no change if the Democrats become the majority in Congress. That is why it is always best to vote your conscience, either Red or Green, if you want peace, abortion rights, no death penalty and much more.

From http://www.wsws.org/articles/2006/nov2006/dems-n04.shtml, "The Democrats in the 2006 elections: the second party of reaction and war, Part 1," by Patrick Martin, we read of
(1) Harold Ford of Tennessee (who happens to be black) is pro-war, anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage; against amnesty for undocument immigrants; for the Patriot Act, pro-Israel.
(2) Robert Casey of Pennsylvania is anti-abortion, for cuts to Medicaid, for war, pro-Israel.
(3) James Webb of Virginia is anti-Semitic (he actually used an ad portraying his Jewish opponent as a hook-nosed moneybag); pro-war (his way, beyond Iraq); viciously anti-communist, pro-Israel.

Many states have socialist parties, like the California Peace & Freedom Party, on the ballot. Most states have the Green Party. These are the 2 peace parties on the ballot. For P&F candidates, see http://www.peaceandfreedom2006.org The Green Party's candidate running against Nancy Pelosi of SF is Krissy Keefer. See http://www.krissyforcongress.com/ She has a good article on her website by Stephen Zunes, "Democrats vs. the Peace Movement" at http://www.keeferforcongress.com/content/view/39/36/

On the California ballot, vote Yes on 86, 87 and 89, No on 85 and 90. For more on the anti-rent control horrors of Prop 90, see the position of the San Francisco Tenants Union at:
http://www.sftu.org/

On the San Francisco ballot, vote Yes on D through K. For more on those propositions, see http://www.sfgov.org/site/election_index.asp?id=4438 and of course, ALWAYS read your voter handbooks. You should have 2 handbooks: one from the State of California on the state propositions and one from the City & County of San Francisco on the County propositions and candidates. The CCSF booklet contains your sample ballot and on the back cover, your polling place. You may also find your polling place and sample ballot at: http://gispub02.sfgov.org/website/pollingplace/INDEX.htm

Election day is Tuesday, November 7, but you can vote this weekend, Nov. 4 & 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at City Hall, basement, Van Ness side, and Monday, November 6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the same location on absentee ballots, and any registered voter can vote absentee. It is too late to mail absentee ballots if you have one. Just complete it and deliver it to your polling place on Tuesday. Please do vote. We need rent control, right to abortion, opposition to the death penalty and peace.

The $0.51 per gal. corporate welfare to the oil refiners for adding 5.6% ethanol to California gas is about $500,000,000.00 per year.

The ethanol may add over $1.00 per gal. to the gas profit in California.

That may be about $100 billion in oil profit from California motorists.

The science is interesting but so is the money.

A $4 billion Prop. 87 oil tax may add $40 billion in oil profit.

Top Schwarzenegger aide, lawmakers travel to South America

KESQ News Channel 3, (AP), Saturday, November 11, 2006

SACRAMENTO Governor Schwarzenegger's chief of staff and a bipartisan delegation of state lawmakers have left on a 12-day trip to South America to study alternative-energy technologies.

Chief of Staff Susan Kennedy, Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez and high-ranking members of both the Senate and Assembly are being accompanied by representatives of energy companies and others with lobbying interests in Sacramento.

The trip will take the delegation to Argentina, Brazil and Chile.

Officials say the mission is designed to give lawmakers a lesson in ethanol production and other clean-energy technologies.

The trip was organized and funded by the California Foundation on the Environment and the Economy.
