Oaxaca, Oax. After several hours of confrontation and the withdrawal of the PFP, Mexican federal militarized police, from the zone of Ciudad Universitaria, University City, the Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca, APPO, celebrated what they considered to be a victory today and called for rebuilding all possible barricades and strengthening the movement.
The PFP returned to the Historic Center [of Oaxaca City] and some of its contingents went toward Parque del Amor, after leaving the immediate vicinity of the university campus.
Nearby, at Cinco Señores fountain, the APPO leadership called on all regions of Oaxaca to participate in their action.
In an improvised meeting, Gustavo Adolfo López, member of the APPO Security Commission, asserted that "thanks to the people," they managed to repel the federal police aggression.
He also announced various agreements of the movement, including rebuilding all possible barricades in the capital, carrying out a so-called mega march next Sunday, not engaging in acts of vandalism, making a call for all regions to participate and maintaining the defense of Ciudad Universitaria.
In turn, the leader Flavio Sosa indicated that today the organization proved the strength it possesses, and he suggested that the federal police withdraw from Oaxaca.
"It was simple, we won", he said and added that the facilities of Ciudad Universitaria will be strengthened.
For his part, López asserted that the APPO had ordered a general offensive.
