Code Pink Action Alert:

by Dan Bacher
Code Pink is working hard to get out the peace vote - and is outraged about a quote in the Sacramento Bee by a Charlie Brown campaign representative that "Code Pink does not belong in the 4th District." Here's what you can do, courtesy of this action alert from Code Pink:
November 1, 2006
Dear Supporter,

CODEPINK has hundreds of members in District 4 and we have been working hard to get out the peace vote! This morning, after 2 days of actions, we woke to find an article in the Sacramento Bee entitled “Activist says Doolittle opponent is distancing himself from earlier anti-war stance”.

The article ended with this…

"And the idea that Charlie supports Code Pink is ludicrous," Stenhouse said. "This is one issue John Doolittle and Charlie Brown agree on: Code Pink does not belong in the 4th District."

To say the least we are outraged and dismayed! To say that CODEPINK doesn’t belong in the 4th District is undemocratic! We are the 4th District!

You can join us in these last days before the election at actions on Thursday and Friday (see below)
OR by simply picking up the phone to let Brown and Doolittle know that peace belongs in the 4th District and we will make sure it stays here on November 7th!

(Medea Benjamin has already made her calls today. So can you!)

• Call Charlie Brown’s office at 1(800) 727- 6968 or (916) 78BROWN

• Call Rep. Doolittle’s office (916) 772-5332

Help us set up Walk in Their Shoes displays at these two events...

With Election Day approaching quickly CODEPINK is rockin! A CODEPINK Sacto Area/Bay Area contingent has been traveling around District 4 with hundreds of pairs of shoes (representing the Iraqi civilian deaths since the beginning of the occupation) to let the candidates know that on November 7th we will Give Peace a VOTE, and will no longer elect representatives who support ongoing aggression in Iraq.

Say your peace-even if your voice shakes,
CODEPINK Team in the 4th
P.S. Pledge to Give Peace a Vote and pass it on.

The Sacbee article seemed to be about a particular individual and a group who enjoy basking in and/or stirring up controversy. This is a tough district for any newcomer and thanks to this individual and reactionary Code Pink the chances of keeping Doolittle in office have increased. Strange that the individual noted in the article would be so supportive of Code Pink when they too disagree about the very significant issue of standing with Palestine and Lebanon against Israel's terror.

I'm glad the Bee article exposed Brown's hostility to free speech (re Code Pink), and I'm appalled that the Brown people would try to stop Cindy from appearing at one of the great 16th & Broadway demos organized by my favorite people, the Pearcys.
