Building Resistance: Salvadoran Youth in the Global Struggle www.cispes.org The National CISPES 2006 Speaking Tour Featuring Oswaldo Nataren, founding member and leader of Roque Dalton University Front (FURD), a political student group at the campus of the National University of El Salvador. Salvadoran university students, because of their struggle for social justice, have always been targeted by the repressive governments in El Salvador. Saca's government is not an exception: this year, national police ambushed a high school student protest against bus fare hikes on July 5th, then illegally occupied the National University for four days, claiming falsely that the university was being used as a weapons cache. With the recent passage of the Anti-Terrorist Law in the Salvadoran Assembly, student organizers are being persecuted and labeled as terrorists. Oswaldo is bringing to our communities in the Bay Area the voice and experience of the organized students in El Salvador to strengthen connections among youth struggles here and in El Salvador. COMMUNITY FORUM with leading organizations resisting repression against youth in our communities: MECHA-USF Young Workers United Monday October 30th 6:30 pm 522 Valencia St. @ 16th San Francisco, CA Suggested Donation: $5 - $15 "Solidarity is perhaps one of the main revolutionary principles. People together can build and transform social reality; we need to continue strengthening and building those bonds and, in that way, succeed in our fight for change." - Oswaldo Nataren - Bay Area CISPES Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador ba-cispes@prodigy.net
