The Oakland-to-Berkeley, Bring It On, Parade of People for Impeachment...

by Chris (oakland [at] bluebottle.com)
...and the Restoration of our Rights. (OBBIOPPIROR) We're on the march from the Grand Lake area all the way into downtown Berkeley this Saturday, October 28 beginning at 9:30 a.m., protesting this administration, this war and the passage of the MCA 2006 and the wholsale gutting of the Bill of Rights. Please gather 9:15 a.m. by the Grand Lake Theater, or meet up with us on the parade route as it comes through your neighborhood. A fun time for all to show that discontent with this government is now the norm, not the exception.

Good Morning, East Bay! Two hundred outraged citizens attended a carnival-like rally on October 5 on Piedmont Ave. as part of the national protests organized by World Can't Wait (worldcantwait.net), and now we're inviting you to join us for all or part of a cross-town march on Saturday, October 28. We'll start at the Grand-Lake Theater and walk all the way to Berkeley BART to protest this administration and particularly the passage of the Military Commissions Act of 2006: gutting the bill of rights, eliminating habeas corpus, and codifying torture as a legal interrogation technique. Join us for the whole march, or any section you can (itinerary below). Meet us in your neighborhood, or begin with us early in Lakeshore. A fun time will be had by all, with breaks for impromptu speeches and coffee stops. Bring sunscreen (or umbrellas), placards, drums, and people (mostly yourself)! If you are headed to the ANSWER rally in San Francisco, you can hop on BART either at Rockridge around noon, or at Berkeley around 1:30 p.m. The World can't wait — come be a part of driving out the Bush Regime now! GRAND LAKE AREA 9:15 – gather by the Grand Lake Theater. 9:30 – March through Lakeshore shopping District. 10:00 – Leave Grand Lake Farmers’ Market. Grand to Broadway to clock tower at Piedmont & 41st. PIEDMONT AVENUE AREA 11:00 a.m. – Leave clock tower at Piedmont and 41st to Pleasant Valley, to Broadway, to College, to Ashby. ELMWOOD DISTRICT 12:30 p.m – Leave Elmwood. Ashby to Telegraph, to Bancroft, to Shattuck, to Berkeley BART. BERKELEY Approx 1:30 – arrive Berkeley BART, head to SF to meet up with ANSWER. (Each leg of the march is approx two miles, and the total mileage is approx seven miles)
