Please join Free Battered Women on Saturday, October 21st, 2006, at the Humanist Hall in Oakland (390-27th Street, between Telegraph & Broadway) for an amazing community event!
Our Voices Within: Out of the Shadows will be a moving celebration of formerly incarcerated domestic violence survivors' freedom and a time to honor those survivors who remain incarcerated.
Doors open at 2pm for a silent auction of artwork by currently and formerly incarcerated survivors of domestic violence. The program begins at 2:30pm and will feature music, dance, and spoken word performances by formerly incarcerated survivors and other artists, as well as a new film about several survivors' journey to freedom.
The Humanist Hall is wheelchair accessible (from 28th Street). Spanish interpretation and childcare is available (please RSVP for these services with Tanya at 415-255-7036 ext. 315). Limited parking is available in the lot next door or on the street. The nearest BART stop is 19th Street (8 blocks away).
We will be accepting donations of $10 - 25 (or more!) at the door, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. You also can support the event by purchasing a dedication in the Our Voices Within commemorative book.
