The San Francisco LGBT Community Center’s Latino Forum will celebrate “Dia de los Muertos” (Day of the Dead) on Thursday November 2, 2006. The event will take place from 7-9 PM in the first floor lobby of the Center, located at 1800 Market Street in San Francisco.

The evening will feature festivity, entertainment and food for the entire lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. A large altar decorated to honor the dead will be on display and a traditional Aztec blessing ceremony, performed by Mixcoatl, will sanctify the event. The event will close with a community open mic, featuring poet Luna Maia, among others. Community members are invited to place photos of their loved ones on the altar and join in the open mic. Participants can sign up the night of the event and read a piece that is five minutes or less. Plenty of Latin food will be available, as will a variety of beverages.
