Hate Crimes on the rise in SF?
Hate crimes and violent crime in SF have citizens living in fear.
Where: 19th Street between Lexington St. and Mission St. , Mission District, San Francisco , CA
When: Monday, October 9, 2006 (after midnight)
What: Hate-motivated physical assault against a Lesbian-identified woman
Incident: The victim was leaving the Lexington Club, walking down 19th street towards Mission ,
when a male suspect approached her from behind and asked her for money. When
she responded that she didn’t have any, he yelled at her, “fucking dyke,” before
punching her in the lip, the eye, and throwing her down on the pavement. The suspect
then sprinted down Mission Street towards 18th street .
The suspect was described as male, age range 30-40, approximately 5’10” and very
thin, ethnicity/race unknown.
COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND WITNESSES NEEDED:
CUAV is calling on the community to spread the word regarding all forms of LGBTQ hate motivated violence.
The victim in this incident reported that other lesbian-identified women have been physic all y assaulted in the same manner by a suspect with a similar description.
We are asking members of the LGBTQ community to please post and distribute this safety alert out to friends, bars and clubs, local businesses, and organizations to help us prevent other crimes such as these from occurring.

CUAV also recommends that individuals make police reports about all harassing and violent incidences.

According to the Bay Area Reporter some Castro residents are organizing safety patrols. A meeting will be held on October 16 at 7:30pm at Gallaghers Barbershop. The address for that place is 4102 19th street.
