I wanted to let you know that the Drug Policy Alliance will hold its
first major San Francisco fundraising event on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 5:30 - 7:30pm, at the City Club of San Francisco. The benefit reception will honor three dear friends of the organization: philanthropists and DPA supporters John Sperling (Apollo Group) and George Zimmer (The Men's Wearhouse), and our own Marsha Rosenbaum. We'll also celebrate the 10th anniversary of Prop 215 (medical cannabis), the 10th anniversary of DPA in California, and the 5th anniversary of Prop 36 (treatment instead of incarceration). Mayor Gavin Newsom, Assemblyman Mark Leno, and Speaker Fabian Nunez will co-chair the event, with both the Mayor and Assemblyman Leno planning to attend. Please visit the event website (http://www.drugpolicy.org/SF) to learn more and to see the benefit committee list, which ranges from San Francisco District Attorney Kamala D. Harris to writer Robert Scheer. Leah Rorvig, working out of our San Francisco office, is in charge of organizing the event. I'd be grateful for any assistance you can provide, whether by attending, buying tickets and/or an ad, spreading the word, providing names of folks in the Bay area for us to invite, and so on. Please be in touch with Leah at lrorvig [at] drugpolicy.org or call her at 415.921.4987 (DPA-SF) or 415.623.0676 (cell). I have a feeling this is really going to be a remarkable couple of hours. Please come if you can, and please spread the word. Many thanks, Ethan Ethan Nadelmann Executive Director Drug Policy Alliance 70 West 36th Street, 16th Floor New York, NY 10018 Phone: (212) 613 8061 Fax: (212) 613 8021 Email: enadelmann [at] drugpolicy.org <mailto:enadelmann [at] drugpolicy.org> Web: http://www.drugpolicy.org <http://www.drugpolicy.org/> |
