San Francisco Oil Awareness Monthly Meeting
Monthly meeting of San Francisco Oil Awareness, an organization dedicated to the study of the potential effects of oil depletion, commonly known as "Peak Oil."
SAN FRANCISCO OIL AWARENESS MEETING AGENDA
The October 2006 San Francisco Oil Awareness meeting will be in Room 4 of the American Friends Service Committee, at 65 9th Street (South of Market Street, near Civic Center BART), October 11 from 7 P.M. - 10 P.M. The agenda for this month's meeting is as follows:
7:00 Introductions, mailing list signup, etc.
7:15/7:35 Presentation: Melissa Capria of the SF Department of Environment (and possibly Cal Broomhead will stop in too)/discussion, Q&A of points in presentation centering on Climate Change and its relationship to Peak Oil.
8:00 known discussions and reports:
Volunteers for next meeting
Announcements of upcoming events and reports on any ongoing group projects
Report from Northern California "Post Carbon Groups" mass meeting September 30 (Richard Katz)
Supervisors' Subcommittee Report (the next Peak Oil LAFCo Hearing is October 20)
The new Peak Oil Directory; individual bios project at http://www.sfbayoil.org/sfpc/directory/
SFOA meeting space ongoing discussion/drama, alternatives vs. upstairs space, etc.
8:30 "Living in a society much less dependent upon fossil fuels" informal discussion, Q&A with Jennifer Bresee. Jennifer spent much of this past summer in Burkina Faso.
9:30 Another possible short presentation to be announced.
Possible discussion suggested by Cal Broomhead to emphasize points in the Call for Study document presented to the Board of Supervisors last spring. If we're running late there may not be extra time for this, but it could be accomplished in another informal meeting of all of those interested in furnishing useful input.
