by reZz (rezrezrez [at] fastmail.fm)
Chain of Life, Bay Area Coalition for Our Reproductive Rights (BACORR) members represent pro and anti choice viewpoints on Park Presidio Blvd.

From around 2PM to 4PM today (Oct 1) about 25 supporters of anti pro choice legislation displayed signs bearing the message "Abortion Kills Children," while about 7 pro choice supporters held up signs saying things like "Protect Choice, No on Prop 85," and "Women Deserve Better than a Bloody Hangar."

Proposition 85, to be on the ballot in California in November, proposes a waiting period and parental notification before a minor would be allowed to terminate a pregnancy.

Anita O'Shea and a fellow Radical Women activist chant;

“Two, four, six, eight,
we're the ones who ovulate.
Not the church, not the state,
women will decide our fate.”

My favorite chant is always to point at these fascists, and say, "This is the face of American fascism; abortion is just a smokescreen." We can see from these pictures that these are not poor backward peasants from the countryside; this is the local fascist crowd, and they are not poor at all. When we picket the Catholic Church's anti-women, pro-fascist hate march in January, you can be sure I will chant my favorite chant. It is never refuted and always stuns these thugs into the silence that we need from them. I also point out to all around me"Many of these people have had abortions; abortion is just a smokescreen for fascism." As we can see from the openly anti-abortion signs, Prop 85 has nothing to do with concern about parental notification for under age 18 women of a pending abortion, but rather repealing the right to abortion for all women. Of course, when they march in January, they are escorted by the local Democratic Party's police and led by the local Catholic Church, and I point to all, in uniform and out of uniform, openly superstitious or not, and state loudly and repeatedly: THIS IS THE FACE OF AMERICAN FASCISM; ABORTION IS JUST A SMOKESCREEN.

One of us asked the "dapper gent" if his dogs were neutered. Nope. Apparently this member of the Life Chain is not aware of the problems of unwanted pets being euthanized on a daily basis. But perhaps he's trying to find homes for all of them as well as all of the unadopted children in the world.
by What about the dogs
Don't dog owners have choices? Maybe he cares for his pets? What a concept!
by what if...
He chooses to run a puppy mill?

Are you comparing the dogs to women? Get a better analogy buddy.

as a prochoice woman, I do not compare women to dogs. But I do make a connection between hypocrisy of rampant breeding of pet animals by a right wing nut job (causing other animals to be euthanized), and the same right wing nutjob turning around and trying to control women's reproduction, leaving unwanted kids to their own fate, OH AND AT THE SAME TIME preventing them from being adopted by couples who don't happen to be hetero. Do you get what I'm saying?
