Para-transit? We Don't Need to Talk About Para-transit!
The MTA's Transit Effectiveness Project is deliberately and specifically excluding para-transit from its work, even though para-transit is a transportation service legally mandated to be complementary to regular transit for those who can't always take regular transit service.
Why ignore para-transit? One of those paid to work on this TEP said about para-transit at the 13 Sept. meeting of the TEP's Policy Advisory Group: " ADA requirements already have to be met". True, but distorting and isolating those disabled who use para-transit from any impact on the rest of the same transit system that provides para-transit.
Here's another column on why and how people with disabilities know the transit system better than those who are not transit-dependent, and also arguably know transit better than some of those [ paid to be ] involved with the Transit Effectiveness Project.
