Korean Farmers and Workers,

South Korea-US Free Trade Agreement Talks
this September 14 in Washington, DC
WHAT:
Protest During the US-Korea Summit in Washington, DC
DATE:
Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, 12:30 PM
PLACE:
Lafayette Park across the White House, Washington, DC
On September 14, South Korea's President Roh Moo-hyun will meet
with President George W. Bush to discuss the fate of the Korea-US FTA
(Free Trade Agreement) and the planned expansion of the US military
base in Pyeongtaek, South Korea.
The proposed Korea-US FTA is flawed and will be detrimental to Korean
farmers and workers. The Bush administration is also trying to realign
US armed forces stationed in South Korea towards
a "strategic flexibility" mode that calls for a rapid response
force, which may contribute to fostering wider conflict in the region.
The proposed expansion of the US military base in Pyeongtaek is part
of that strategy.
Join delegates from South Korea, including Chung Kwang-hoon, Chief
Representative of Korean Alliance Against KorUS FTA and Cho Joon-ho,
Chair of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), and Korean
Americans Against War and Neoliberalism (KAWAN) in a rally at the
Lafayette Park to protest these developments.
