A Radical Queer Social and Slut Dance
Benefit to Stop Racist Redevelopment Plans for Bayview/Hunters Point
Saturday, October 7, 2006

Calendar Listing:

Return to DEBASEMENT tonight to find all the hot queers and sexy sounds you left behind. Last time, you DEBASED Israeli terror, and this time we’ll DEBASE something closer to home: racist redevelopment plans for Bayview/Hunters Point. DEBASE at De Basement, a dark and sleazy subterranean speakeasy below the Baker’s Dozen. Enjoy the sizzling sounds of your fave local DJs and be sure to come thirsty, darling, because some of SF’s most babealicious barmaids have concocted some delectable cocktails and mocktails for your enjoyment. PLUS sexxxy games and contests. We invite all you radical queer creatures to dress up, dress down, cruise, network, dance, prance, make out, and make trouble in support of Defend Bayview Hunters Point, a coalition working towards stopping the Redevelopment Agency’s plans for the neighborhood. DEBASEMENT will occur on Saturday October 7, 9pm-2am at 733 Baker St @ McAllister, SF. $5-$25 NOTAFLOF. Info: frenzy [at]

Further information on Defend Bayview Hunters Point and BARRAGE:

Just who exactly does the SF Redevelopment Agency think they are? After decades upon decades of forcibly removing poor people and people of color from San Francisco neighborhoods, director Marcia Rosen and her gentrification machine want to repeople Bayview/Hunters Point. It’s white supremacy gone wild! BARRAGE (Bay Area Residents Resisting Another Gentrification and Eviction), is a group of activists who live outside of the Bayview who are working to support the efforts of people living in the Bayview to resist the plans of the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency.

Defend Bayview Hunters Point is a coalition of Bayview residents, business owners, and activist organizations working on a voter referendum to stop the plans of the Redevelopment Agency. Due to the wild, lucrative and sexy success of the previous DEBASEMENT, we decided to bring back the debaucherous evening to raise funds and to build community and connections between queer activists. Hopefully MARCIA will make a guest appearance!
