Bijou
@ Martuni's
Trauma Flintstone presents Bijou, a monthly cabaret showcase highlighting up-and-coming drag and acoustic performers. This Sunday, Bijou goes MALE, MALE, MALE! Yes, it's all about Folsom Street Fair and Burning MAN. The drag queens are taking the make-up OFF and the drag kings are putting the beards ON. This very special Bijou features: David Bicha (aka Joyce Eggy) of Acid Housewife, a veteran of numerous theatre productions, wails out the blues and pumps up the funk; Brit Zane (aka Chlamydia Kilroy), direct from the Desperate Divas Calendar Pageant, making his first appearance at Bijou, singing quirky alterna-pop songs; Mister Angelo (aka Micqui Li), drag king balladeer, makes his second appearance at Bijou, singing lounge classics (and not-so-classics); Jack Shit (aka Cookie Dough), the performer so few people really know, a rocker, loud and raucous; Conrad Frank (aka Katya Ludmilla Smirnoff-Skyy), the sole theatre queen in the bunch. Unlike his alter-ego, Katya, this guy avoids the opera and goes for the show tunes. Cute as a button — who knew? Eric Brizee (aka Liza Bouterage), leather daddy with a nice tenor voice. Your emcees for the evening are Mr. Storm Florez (direct from the TransStage at Pride and Trans-As-F**k festival) along with Mr. Dearborn Lapidge (replacing Mrs. Flintstone for the night). Florez makes his second appearance at Bijou and will sing more of his original material. LaPidge, a lounge lizard, will provide smarmy, unctuous melodies to round out the evening, as well as accompany the singers. With Mister Theo at the door. $5. Sept. 10 at 7pm. Martuni's, 4 Valencia Street (Valencia @ Market). For more information, contact Trauma Flintstone via email at traumaflintstone [at] gmail.com

A Song At Twilight
@ Theatre Rhinoceros
Noel Coward's heartbreaking final play "A Song at Twilight" is given a reading at The Rhino, starring Giles Havergal in Coward's most autobiographical role. Directed by John Fisher. Story: In a smart hotel suite in Lausanne the distinguished author Hugo Latymer is expecting a dinner guest, the actress Carlotta Gray, with whom he had an affair many years before. But Carlotta has not come for an evening of nostalgia. Havergal (Scrooge in A.C.T.'s A Christmas Carol) joins Rhino regulars Libby O'Connell (Philanderer, Medea: The Musical, Beautiful Child) and Enrique Vallejo (Bent and Medea), and Rhino newcomer Trish Tillman (What the Butler Saw) in this comedy-drama about fame, infamy and the ever presence of the past. Bijou

Amidst the cocktails and laughter, Coward investigates the corrosive effect on the individual of living a lie and the right of the individual to keep his private life private. A Song at Twilight is Coward's only openly gay text. $10/ $5.
Tue., Sept. 12 at 8pm (one show only). 2926 16th St. Info/tix: 415-861-5079
