Phil Woods Walks 3,000 Miles For The Morality Of America
Invites All Americans To Join Him At The Golden Gate Bridge

Saturday, September 9th, 2006 at 9:00am, Phil Woods will complete his walk across America by crossing the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and putting his toe in the Pacific Ocean.

Phillip L. Woods, 68, of Columbus, Indiana began his cross country journey in London Towne, Maryland as an outlet for him to release the frustration he felt with the role model establishments in the country. Business, education, politics and religion are all in need of an overhaul of morals. He is bothered watching corporate America unethically behave and destroy innocent people’s lives with their financial mishandling and greed. He is aggravated watching as students of our most prestigious centers for higher learning use their education to deceive and rob because they were taught to beat the system more than they were taught to make it better. He is tired of the false pretense of so many politicians who espouse propaganda and deception rather than simply representing the people. And, he is deeply disturbed to hear the ramifications of religious institutions that betray their followers.

Why, you may ask, is he walking across America? Some people swim the English Channel or climb Mount Everest. What do those people answer when asked the same question? To prove they could do it? Perhaps. However, Phil is not walking across America for an individual accomplishment. His whole purpose is to inspire those who cross his path and shake his hand, as well as those who watch from a distance.

When they say, "that's a long way to go" or "that's a high mountain to climb" or "what you are bringing on yourself is awfully hard", he may say, "Indeed, but it CAN be done. I'm doing it." And then he can reflect with them that all the objections they present are symbolic for the obstacles that face America today at recovering and maintaining her morality.

Like an athlete down on the field flapping his extended arms upward to encourage the spectators to rise and become participants in the game by making some noise, Phil is walking down the center of the country with extended arms encouraging us all to get up out of our "spectators" chairs and become "participants" in molding our country.

Phil Woods was born in a two-room house in rural Brown County Indiana. He persevered through many obstacles in his life to become a successful self-made businessman. He attributes his success to relationships he has built with honesty, integrity and compassion. He now feels compelled to impress those virtues upon the whole nation. If he can make a success of himself with those simple virtues, so too, can all Americans. Without them, we all lose.

He wants each of us as individuals to hold all leaders accountable for these simple virtues. If they cannot abide by the respect these attributes convey, then they need to step down (or be voted down) from leadership and let the next virtuous American take their place.

If you believe the power is with the people, then join him in making a stand for the morality of America. Make a pledge to become a role model and do what you can to contribute positively in your place of business, school, government and church. It may be a challenge, but hopefully Phil is showing everyone there is no limit to what you can do.

He has no monetary gain associated with this endeavor. However, the old adage is true; if he can affect and motivate even one person to action, his long journey will have been worth it.

Phil invites you and every American to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge with him on Saturday, September 9th, 2006 as an exclamation point to his journey, quest and goal.
