Peace Vigil Meets Vigilantes

What happens when anti-war activists encounter hostile cops and 'patriots'. That's the subject of the dark drama "Can't Stop The Clock", playing at Club Caution (516 Front St., on August 10th and 12, Thursday and Saturday, rear chamber). It's a Fightback Productions event, authored by Nicholas Constant, based on his investigations of police brutality in Santa Cruz (events contemporaneous with the 1991 era protests at the Town Clock). An experienced cast portrays the three men (all different generations) and one woman who defy all the authorities to express their conscience. No matter what's thrown at them, they survive - when the system puts them in court, they fight back with humor - their trump card - ridiculing the structure of control: The Machine.

This play is a benefit for the Military Alternatives outreach program of the Resource Center for Non-Violence. Cost is $8.50 / $6.50 (low/fixed income, students, seniors).
