WHAT: A lively and intelligent discussion on national television program C-SPAN to feature Elizabeth Grossman’s High Tech Trash: Digital Devices, Hidden Toxics, and Human Health (Island Press, May 17 2006, Cloth: $25.95 ISBN: 1-55963-554-1). The event will focus on her global investigation into the life cycle impacts of high tech products. High Tech Trash is one of the first books to shine light on and propose solutions to the health and environmental impacts of high tech trash which, until now, had hidden in undercurrents.

WHEN: August 15, 7pm

WHERE: Book Passage
1 Ferry Plaza, #46
San Francisco, CA
(415) 835-1020

WHY: A strong show of support at this visible event will demonstrate firm commitment to addressing and ameliorating the issue at hand, as well as broader environmental issues. Not only will the discussion be broadcast nationally, but it will be repeated in a podcast. The event is a perfect opportunity to ask questions about local issues, policies, or related legislation in the public sphere. The coverage from C-SPAN is a unique opportunity to bring concerns about high tech trash, and waste disposal in general, to a broader audience; a critical mass at this event will greatly aid many environmental causes directly and tangentially related to this book.

More information about the book is available at http://www.hightechtrash.com.
