The Bay Area Immigrant Rights Coalition (BAIRC) invites you to
attend an
Immigration Reform Roundtable Train-the-Trainers Session
Wednesday August 9, 2006
TWO SESSIONS: 3-5 pm and 6-8 pm
Oakland, CA
near the 12th St./Oakland City Center and Lake Merritt
BART stations
The training will include:
- the latest legislative update with an explanation of what
is to come in the fall;
- all the materials you will need to educate and mobilize
your friends, family, and co-workers;
- a calendar of upcoming events in the Bay Area;
- a model of the roundtable;
- strategies for building alliances with labor and
communities of color;
- the opportunity to sharpen your facilitation skills
(first-timer or experienced, we're all still learning!); and
- an open space to exchange strategies and questions with
other BAIRC members.
This is a training that anyone can complete. There are no
requirements beyond a desire to educate the people you already know.
We aren't asking you to convince the Minutemen; your workout
buddies, co-parishioners, and family are all great potential
audiences for your roundtable!
RSVP by Monday August 7 to Danielle at intern [at] immigrantrights.org or
by calling 510-839-7598. Please indicate the number of participants
from your organization, which session you will be attending, and if
translation equipment will be needed. The trainings require a
minimum of 10, and will be capped at 18. Snacks and drinks will be
provided
