"LUMUMBA" The story of political leader Patrice Lumumba, Congo's first prime minister who helped lead his country to independence from Belgium in the late 1950s. Lumumba's vision of a united Africa challenged U.S. and European imperialism that are responsible for his assassination in 1960. Followed by a discussion about the material basis of the war in the Congo which has killed 5 million people since mid 1990’s. For recent info on the death and misery that the U.S. and Europe has imposed on the Congo, see http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/30/world/africa/30congo.html?ex=1154404800&en=d19c571c0422578a&ei=5087%0A BUILD AFRICAN PEOPLE'S SOLIDARITY DAY! http://www.apscuhuru.org |
