Update on Jeff Free Luers
Jeff is still in the hole; please continue to write to him!
Friends,
We have received some updated information on Jeff?s situation. He is still in the
hole (solitary segregation). He was given a urinalysis (drug test) and the results
were ?too clean? so they gave him two more tests and both came up negative for
drugs. He has still not had a hearing and his situation has been put ?under
investigation?. At this point he is scheduled to remain in the hole until at least
August 20th.
If they find him guilty, Jeff will lose his contact visits for a year. This means he
will only be able to see his family and friends from behind glass. And, the visits
will be limited to one hour, and may be limited to only a certain number per week.
He also faces a $100 fine. His attorney is in contact with prison officials and we
will continue to update you as we hear more.
Jeff still needs your letters of support, so please continue writing to him. It
takes him a little longer to receive his mail but he is able to receive a stack of
letters at a time.
He has also requested some reading materials. If you are interested in purchasing a
book for him (must by new and mailed directly from the publisher or Amazon.com)
please contact us directly (freefreenow [at] mutualaid.org) for a book title off the list
he has requested. We are hoping to have books ordered THIS WEEK (by August 5th).
Jeff may not be able to write back to you, as he has been having trouble obtaining
envelopes (and he is NOT able to receive them from the outside, sorry). So, if you
write to him, please remember that you may not hear back but that he still enjoys
hearing from you! He also doesn?t have access to any addresses from letters he
received before being sent to the hole.
If you are interested in donating to his prison commissary fund so that he will have
a little money once he gets out of the hole, please send a money order or cashier's
check only [absolutely no checks or cash] made out to:
DOC Central Trust For Jeffrey Luers, #13797671
and sent to Central Trust, PO Box 14400, Salem OR 97309-5077.
[On the money order/cashier?s check, write the name and mailing address of
purchaser, including city, state, and zip code. The money will be put in Jeff's
account upon receipt through the mail. Please do not include any letters or other
personal items in the envelope that you use to mail the money order/cashier?s check.
Any letters, cards, etc. cannot be accepted and will be returned to the sender.]
