LEBANON & GAZA EMERGENCY RESPONSE DEMO
On Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at 5 pm a demonstration took place to protest the latest Israeli atrocities committed in Qana, Lebanon which killed more than 60 civilians including 37 children as they slept in a bomb shelter. Hundreds of protestors met at the San Francisco Federal Building for a rally and then marched through the Tenderloin, down Market Street to Powell Street for another spriited rally. The demonstration was called by the American Arab Anti Discrimination Committee - San Francisco which issued the following statement:
With heavy hearts and in the midst of mourning we send this message.
The latest Israeli atrocities committed in Qana, Lebanon killed more than 60 civilians including 37 children as they slept in a bomb shelter. In Gaza the killing continued this week with more than 30 Palestinians killed.
We cannot and will not stay silent as the Israeli war machine kills our children inside their shelters, with the support of the war criminals Condoleezza Rice and George Bush who argued that it is too early for a cease fire. We hold the US government, as much as Israel, responsible for the death of our people.
IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE!
END US AID TO ISRAEL!
HOLD ISRAEL/US ACCOUNTABLE!
NO TO WAR, OCCUPATION & PUPPET GOVERNMENTS!
