Microradio DJ/Activist Thunder dies, will be missed

Native American Berkeley Liberation Radio DJ Thunder (AKA Rafael Donner), a lifelong Berkeley Activist, died July 17th, 2006 of complications from diabetes. Berkeley Liberation Radio released the following statement.
Born July 30, 1951. Died July 17, 2006. Native American Californian, born in Berkeley. Lifelong social/civil rights activist, died of complications from diabetes in Berkeley.

Thunder was committed to Berkeley Liberation Radio, hosting the show "Earth First, Corporations Last", and giving a platform for the voices in our community and beyond...helping to keep in the forefront and fighting for the release of Leonard Peltier, coordinating monthly prayer circles in front of the Federal Building in Oakland, giving solidarity with the struggles and victories of People's Park in Berkeley, and many other causes, including the Native American Movement.

He is survived by daughter Solana Page, son Devin Page of Berkeley, sister Linda Donner of Richmond, lifelong friend and mother to Solana and Devin, Donna Page of Berkeley, nephew Jermaine Land of Berkeley and numerous cousins and relatives...

A memorial for Thunder with his family and extended family was held Sunday, July 30 at Ho Chi Minh Park in Berkeley to honor and celebrate his life....
