The Movement: A Poem

by kirsten anderberg
...A movement of cliques, trends and taboos
A movement of worthy causes and DIY in bloom
I hate it, I love it
It hurts me, it heals me
A movement of cells lacking real unity
A movement of shared beliefs keeps alluring me...
The Movement
By Kirsten Anderberg (http://www.kirstenanderberg.com) – July 28, 2006

Where were you
As I lay homeless?
Where were you
As I sat without bail?
Where were you when I went hungry?
My friend,
Your “solidarity” has failed.

Where were you
As I cried in pain?
Where were you
When I struggled in vain?
Where were you
When I hugged myself alone?
Ordering Cosmic Pizza on your cell phone?

I didn’t want to be so tough
I didn’t want to play so rough
I only wanted to understand
Where I fit into this divine plan.

A movement of cliques, trends and taboos
A movement of worthy causes and DIY in bloom
I hate it, I love it
It hurts me, it heals me
A movement of cells lacking real unity
A movement of shared beliefs keeps alluring me
Am I friend or foe?
I will never know.
But did I follow my heart?
I think so.
