Israel Lobby Works Overtime to Promote War. Confronts Barbara Lee.

by stopAIPAC.org
The "Israel Lobby" is working overtime to support Israel's attacks on Lebanon and Gaza. From street actions to congressional resolutions, the Israel lobby never relents in preventing peace. It has confronted Barbara Lee for not giving unconditional support to Israeli actions.
In an article from the St. Louis Jewish Light, it is described the efforts by some organized Jewish groups to support Israeli aggression in Lebanon and Gaza. (No mention of organized Jewish opposition to such policies, or individual opposition). It is impressive work.

A major accomplishment for the pro-war lobby is getting resolutions passed in both the Senate (with unanimous consent) and in the House, with only a handful dissenters. One of these dissenters is Barbara Lee, who issued a statement explaining her actions (she voted "Present" on the resolution). It has been reported that AIPAC demanded a meeting with Lee last Monday, to berate her for not giving Israel her full support for the war against the people of Lebanon. No report on that meeting is available, but Barbara Lee is still co-sponsoring an alternative resolution that currently has 23 co-sponsors. Introduced by Dennis Kucinich, it is in support of an immediate cease-fire and negotiations.

It should be noted that Congressperson Pete Stark, who was the only Bay Area representative to vote NO on the pro-war resolution, has yet to sign-on as a co-sponsor of the Kucinich resolution.

On August 12th many of us will be on the streets joining together to say NO to the extremist pro-war insanity promoted by the Israel Lobby and the few have interests in seeing war in the Middle East. Beyond that, we will organize the largest protest AIPAC has seen yet when it holds its membership dinners in the greater Bay Area in December of this year.

Join together. Stop AIPAC

by ISM lobbys Barbara Lee too
"Israel Lobby Works Overtime to Promote War. Confronts Barbara Lee."

And Paul Lardudee of ISM meet with her earlier. Why are you pretending hteir is something wrong with expressing our opinions to our elected representatives?
AIPAC clearly has disporportionate influence, as evidenced by recent votes in house/senate.
we are also free to express our opinions about lobbies. For example People should be free to support universal ownership of guns, others may oppose that, and oppose extremist lobbies like the NRA. If the NRA is holding a banquet, those who question its message are likely to protest its presence, to ask local politicians to not support it. This goes with any lobby.

A recent article by Michael Massing in The New York Review of books (available on the web) explains the inner workings of the American Israel Political Affairs Committee (AIPAC). If you have ever wondered why AIPAC does not represent moderate or progressive American Jewish opinion but rather the views of a small miority of right-wing warhawks, read this article!

Also, the article explains the mechanics of controlling Congress via our corrupt legislative process.
