Youth Against War and Racism organized a march through the heart of Petaluma July 15th to protest imperialism in Iraq, Afghainistan and Lebanon. The march took to the streets spontaneously and drew over 60 people. The march went from Walnut Park on the west side of town to Luchessi park on the east side, marching in the street down Washington and McDowell. People of all ages attended, from students to middle-aged and elderly. The march was calledd to show critical resistance to the war in Petaluma, and to form stronger ties between groups in Sonoma County working to end it. Youth Against War and Racism will be starting a serious counter-recruitment campaign this fall in Sonoma county high school campuses.
