Sac: protest quarter cent increase in sales tax to pay that will go toward the Maloofs

by Alex
We, the taxpayers, are being asked to pay for an arena that will generate millions of dollars for the Maloofs. We get none of that money.
Where: Protestors will gather at the Downtown Railyards which is behind the Amtrak station (the railyards are behind 401 I Street).
When: 10 a.m.

Why: There will be a press conference with government officials and the Maloofs to announce a proposal to raise your taxes by a quarter cent. The sales tax increase will go to pay for a new arena for the Maloofs. Essentially we, the taxpayers, are being asked to pay for an arena that will generate millions of dollars for the Maloofs. We get none of that money.

A protest is being organized against this corporate giveaway. Protestors will gather at the Downtown Railyards which is behind the Amtrak station (the railyards are behind 401 I Street).

Show up to tell your government officials that you do not agree with paying higher taxes to make billionairres even richer! Bring signs, instruments, drums or whatever else you can to disrupt the press conference. Let's stop corporate welfare right here in our own city! Show up and represent.
