Ehud Olmert - War Criminal?
The Israeli army has now killed over 300 civilians (men, women and children) by deliberately violating international conventions intended to protect civilian populations and there is now a prima facie case for indicting Ehud Olmert, Israel’s prime minister, for war crimes.
The Israeli army has now killed over 300 civilians (men, women and children) by deliberately violating international conventions intended to protect civilian populations and there is now a prima facie case for indicting Ehud Olmert, Israel’s prime minister, for war crimes. A war crime is a punishable offence under international law and as the individual issuing the orders Olmert must be held responsible and brought before the International Court of Justice in the Hague.
The Fourth Geneva Convention, prohibits "collective penalties and likewise all measures of intimidation or of terrorism ..." (Article 33). According to Article 147 of the Convention, "extensive destruction ... not justified by military necessity and carried out unlawfully and wantonly," hostage-taking and "torture or inhuman treatment" are grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions and constitute war crimes. All state parties to the Convention are required to search for and ensure the prosecution of perpetrators of grave breaches of the said Convention. Protocol I Additional to the Geneva Conventions codifies the principle of distinction, a customary rule of international humanitarian law: "In order to ensure respect for and protection of the civilian population and civilian objects, the Parties to the conflict shall at all times distinguish between the civilian population and combatants and between civilian objects and military objectives and accordingly shall direct their operation only against military objectives." (Article 48). International Humanitarian Law strictly prohibits attacks against civilians and civilian objects. The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) includes as war crimes: "Intentionally directing attacks against the civilian population as such or against individual civilians not taking direct part in hostilities", and "Intentionally directing attacks against civilian objects" (Article 8 2 (b) (i) and (ii)).

Ohmert and Sharon--two peas in a pod--war pigs.
ehud olmert and george w.bush should BOTH be indicted for war crimes. israel has for decades applied collective punishment toward innocent palestinians, and now toward innocent lebanese. when bush "uttered israel has a right to defend herself" he gave tacit,if not explicit approval for israel to begin it's campaign of TERROR against lebanon. when a state DELIBERATELY attacks civilians and civilian infrastructures it is by definition WAR CRIMES.let us not forget our friend and ally israel attacked the USS.LIBERTY killing dozens of american sailors, all the while claiming that it was"a mistake". it was NO MISTAKE! how can a pilot claim that he did not realize that it was an american ship when it flew the stars and stripes, and when the israeli government was well aware that our ship was there.let us also not forget that former israeli prime ministers itzak shamir and menachim begin detonated bombs in civilian areas during the israeli war against the british in palestine!!! were they branded "terrorist" by israelis?no,they were called "freedom fighters".yet when palestinians utilitize the same tactics they are condemned.i submit that they are merely using the weapons at hand as they are not equipped with tanks, planes and munitions.israel is a TERRORIST state!!!
