SATURDAY, JULY 29, 2006
On July 26, 1953, Fidel Castro and a brave band of revolutionaries attacked the Moncada Barracks of the army of the dictator, Fulgencio Batista, igniting the first battle of the Cuban Revolution. It is commemorated every year in Cuba with public events, revelry and a triumphant spirit. Come join us as we share music, dancing, food, drink, and good times, and toast the bravery of the Cuban people in their ongoing struggle against the sanctions. Sponsored by Casa Cuba, Saturday, July 29, 1 pm to 9 pm, at the Niebyl Proctor Marxist Library/Casa Cuba Resource Center, 6501 Telegraph Ave. Oakland, CA 94609 (near Telegraph, across from Jack in the Box). Bring your friends! Contact Tom Ladd (ladd [at] sfsu.edu) or Patty Mote (patty [at] igc.org) for more info.
