EBAA E-Alert July 10, 2006

EBAA launches [AndronicosAbuse.com, now defunct, was the web address]

Andronico's Market, a grocery chain in the San Francisco Bay
Area, plays an important role in promoting humane business
practices. As the company's vision articulates: “We initiate and
encourage change, taking responsibility for our actions in
pursuit of excellence.” In fact, Andronico's says it is
"committed to the highest standards of animal husbandry."
Shockingly, Andronico's still sells eggs from chickens confined
in battery cages. In order to advance the company’s commitment to
excellence, ask Andronico's to adopt a cage-free egg policy.

Stop the expansion of rabbit meat production

Recently, Alabama Agricultural Director Ron Sparks made the
development of the rabbit meat industry his "top priority". Right
now, the industry is relatively small, however, if Mr. Sparks and
the Tri-State Rabbit Growers Association have their way it will
be as large as the chicken industry. The bunnies need your voice.
Please politely but firmly let Mr. Sparks know how you feel on
this issue.

calling for increased testing and tougher legislation to reduce
the foodborne pathogen. The processors with failing grades
include the largest operations in the country. They are Tyson
Foods, Pilgrim's Pride, Goldkist, Perdue Farms, Wayne Farms, and
Foster Farms.
