This is one of many days of solidarity with the South Central Farm in Los Angeles.
We stand for our rights to farm ALL unused land as people need to for food. SUPPORT COMMUNITY FARMS AND GARDENS!!!
Dress as a vegetable or just wear green. Bring music, guerilla theatre, merryment, noisemakers, DRUMS & DRUMS...
We will gather (festivly) at the clocktower from 2:00pm and then parade through town gathering support, educating peeps towards a community garden in Santa Cruz.
Once at the proposed (community)garden site, we will rally and discuss work which needs to be done to SAVE (old) and BEGIN (new) community gardens throughout the county.
We will be gathering donations (and volunteers) for a school garden already in progress at Radcliffe Elementary in Watsonville. PLEASE bring whatever you can! Wish list is below...
List of supplies needed:
- rich soil
- aged, ready-to-use compost
- seeds and plant seedlings
- 15 to 30 trowels
- shovels
- gloves
- watering cans
- seeds
- planters, and wood to construct planters
- hay bales
- a hose
- pickaxe
- compost bin
- a picnic table
- a lockable storage shed or cabinet
