Not the UNITED States of America – No Longer Our Country



Based on what has happened in this country in the past few years which is actually an accumulation of the degradation of our democracy which began with the Reagan years, I assert that this is no longer a representative democracy – we are a nation where we are taxed without representation and our leaders govern without the consent of the people.


Military Industrial Complex Now Controls Government


Our laws and constitution apparently mean little to this group. They will do what they want and when they want. What they choose is the law – not our constitution and the laws our nation has followed. They have done what they can to take as much control over wars, incarceration and judgment of so called enemies of America out of the control of the public. The military (much like the American police and prison authorities) prefer to operate outside the realm of the public control.

Even though the cold war ended, the US military budget has continued to rise draining valuable resources from the public’s need for social services. At home, we constantly hear that there is not enough money for schools, medical care and other vital services. On the other hand, military and their suppliers seems to have unlimited resources and no end to what they want and get. Halliburton and entities like that get richer and richer – as we the people get poorer and poorer.

The truth is the military is funded by the vast debt the United States incurs in the world financial community. While we may think we are being made more secure by our huge military outlays, our security is daily being eroded by the financial pitfall of trying to pay for something we really don’t have the money to do. Also, as violations of human rights and decency by our military, CIA and other agencies pile up, the lives of American Citizens become more at risk in the international community. Daily the illegal and unethical activities of our government and its agents threaten the lives of average American citizens.

We so quickly forget our government’s illicit involvement with death squads in Central America, support for the Taliban and Bin Laden, support for terrorist Luis Posada Carriles (probably on the CIA payroll when he bombed a Cubana airliner), the Iran Contra arms scandal, the probable importing of drugs into the US to fund covert military operations. These are just a few examples of the duplicity and the effort to subvert our laws and constitution.



Elected Officials Are Not Leaders, Do Not Represent the Public but Do Represent Vested Financial Interests Who Funds Their Campaigns and Political Careers

What have we the people received from our Congress and representatives in all levels of government nationwide? An illegal, unethical and bankrupting war in Iraq based on an assortment of lies at all levels of the administration and military. Interest rates on credit cards are usurious particularly for those with poor credit. Congress has gutted bankruptcy protections for the poor and middle class. Excellent programs such as “Head Start” have been gutted. Major scandals exist throughout congress where there is a pay to play mentality between lobbyists and our elected representatives. Our representatives fail to enact effective campaign finance reform and if anything is done, they subvert it for their own benefit. Ever write a letter to an elected official – many do not ever take the time to reply. They are too busy with those who $$count$$. They have failed to hold accountable the lies and misdeeds of the administrative branch. They have confirmed extremist judges. They lie to, manipulate and confuse the public. They permit the growth of incarceration, criminal injustice and the human rights violation of the death penalty. The use fear and crime to push massive injustices. They subvert the constitution.

They have permitted gross violations of our constitution – condoned torture, illegal kidnapping, illegal prisons, condoned prisons operated by our government but outside the laws of our nation. What kind of government is this?

They given themselves raises but consistently refuse to increase the minimum wage. They have done nothing on immigration reform. They pander to their special interests while the nation falls.

Our president is truly a fraud who has been set up for success most of his life. How could he fail when there was always some vested interest there to bail him out? What did he ever achieve before he became President? His service in the National Guard is questionable. He consorted with the likes of Ken Lay of Enron fame who he now distances himself from. He promised to get rid of those in his administration who disclosed CIA operative Valerie Plame but when the truth came out he did nothing. This is the best America can come up with for its national leader? He is disregarded by so many but that apparently does not matter to him. The power is all he wants – even if it is illegitimate.


America is a Major Human Rights Violator, Lies Repeatedly to the American People about Torture, Etc

We know that the CIA directed torture and inquiries at Abu Ghraib prison. How many CIA agents were called to account, indicted, etc. ? None. Only low level scapegoats were charged and convicted. CIA operatives operate with false names, do what they want when they want regardless of our US laws and outside the standards of internationals laws and rights. They lead the violations and then disappear. It is so convenient. Guantanamo violates everything we are supposed to be about but it remains. We the people have no say or control over this. The American people do not want this type of thing but our government persists.

The US has continued to use the death penalty in violation of major human rights standards. The mentally ill, retarded, juvenile offenders, poor, weak and disenfranchised have been railroaded into the death chambers of America. People languish years on death row waiting to be killed by this government. DNA testing has released over 100 people from death row and from other major criminal sentences. Bush & Company had a history in Texas of violating the basic rights of fair trial, due process, etc. Of course, through his actions as President, we have seen that the laws just do not apply to him. Not only the laws- but honesty and decency. His words mean nothing.


We No Longer Have Fair and Free Elections: They were subverted by Republican Party Operatives and The Supreme Court

Republican and sometimes Democrat political operatives do what they can to subvert honest votes in our nation. One thing we felt we had was a representative democracy. Is it not treason to subvert this? Over and over we hear stories of the manipulation of the vote and voting rights particularly in Florida and Ohio. As more and more of it comes out it appears that these Republican operatives are interested only in gaining power through a corrupted process. They care not that we have a free, honest voting system. They care that they gain power through any means. Various studies have shown that the true votes in 2000 and 2004 were not for Bush.

Bush has operated as if he had a huge mandate and could do what he pleased. He disregarded the fact that almost half of the nation or more were against his election. He cares less for the opinion of the American people. The people he represents are the wealthiest and the corporations. That is why his poll numbers can go to almost nothing and he really does not care. When the poll of his true constituency (the super wealthy and corporations) turns against him – then he will become concerned. His America is not the 90% of the others in America – the working class, middle class and poor.
