BAY AREA Summer Organizing Internship – UNITE! HERE

UNITE! HERE International Union represents over 450,000 workers in the hospitality, food service, laundry, and textile industries ( http://www.UNITEHERE.org ). Currently we are accepting applications for a Bay Area summer internship program.

Internship Details

NOW! – July 17, 2006 (may be extended)

* Work with a dynamic team on an exciting bottom up organizing drive to support low wage food service immigrant workers
* Receive organizing training from experienced organizers.
* Direct action organizing
* $550/wk stipend
* Automobile compensation
* The internship program will be run out of downtown Oakland.

Additional Qualifications:

Commitment to building a strong union movement
* Desire to develop organizing skills
* Outgoing personality
* Willingness to work outside of your comfort zone
* Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and car that can be used for work.
