New Revolutionary Music Downloads by Mos Def, Dead Prez, Sizzla, Papoose

by K-Salaam
The title of the album, "The World Is Ours,"
represents the idea that all struggling people will
one day take back what was stolen from them.
I am releasing a revolutionary compilation album
featuring all original exclusive songs from: Mos Def,
Sizzla, Papoose, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, Capleton,
Saigon, Anthony B, Busy Signal, Suheir Hammad, Black
Ice from HBO Def Poetry Jam, Kardinal Offishall, Rakaa
from Dilated Peoples, Luciano, and many more...

The album will be released through my independent label, Shining Star Music, on July 11th, and will be in stores
everywhere. All of the production was handled by me
and my partner, Beatnick.

The title of the album, "The World Is Ours,"
represents the idea that all struggling people will
one day take back what was stolen from them. All of
the artists on the album wrote songs that revolve
around this central theme.

Sizzla and Capleton are both outspoken homophobes. Why would you include them in a selection of "revolutionary" artists?

In their lyrics and on-stage banter, they have called upon their fans to attack and kill queers.

"Throughout the night, Capleton, they sang almost exclusively about gay men," Amnesty International reported in a May 17, 2004 alert. Using the derogatory terms for gay men - 'chi chi men' or 'battybwoys' - they urged the audience to "kill dem", chanting "who want to see dem dead put up his hand".

Some of Sizzla's lyrics include (translations in parentheses):

"Pump Up"
Step up inna front line (Step up to the front line)
fire fi di man dem weh go ride man behind (burn the men who have sex with men from behind)
Shot battybwoy, my big gun boom (Shoot queers, my big gun goes boom)

"Boom Boom"
Boom boom! Batty boy them fi dead (Boom boom! Queers must be killed)

"Get To Da Point"
Sodomite and batty bwai mi seh a death fi dem (Sodomite and queers, I say death to them)
Mi no trust babylon fi a second yah so (I don't trust Babylon for a second)
Mi a go shot batty bwai dem widdi weapon ya (I go and shoot queers with a weapon [as in gunshots])

That's not revolutionary, at all. It's the same violent, reactionary bullshit that we've seen for a long, long time.

When I see that someone views Sizzla and/or Capleton as inspirational revolutionary artists, then I know that it's not a revolution that I want to be a part of.

If someone openly advocates discrimination, violence, and even murder against myself, my friends, and my family, then they are my enemy.

And the person who openly promotes and celebrates my enemy...?
