Save The Civic Center Hotel! Support Our Resolution before the Board
Our building still doesn't have the City-mandated seismic retrofit for Unreinforced Masonry Buildings. We have a resolution to be heard by the Land Use Committee of the SF Board of Supervisors. Come express your support.
SAVE THE CIVIC CENTER HOTEL!
SUPPORT OUR RESOLUTION BEFORE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Where: City Hall, Land Use Committee Room 2xx
When: Wednesday, June 21, 2006, 1pm
What: Supervisor Chris Daly has introduced a resolution asking the building owner, UA Plumbers Local 38 Pension Trust Fund, to promptly proceed with a seismic retrofit.
Why: The building's owner refuses to comply with the UMB (Unreinforced Masonry Building) Seismic Retrofit Ordinance and make the building safer in an earthquake. Instead they want to demolish the building entirely.
How: Join tenants and supporters and add your testimony to the public comment on the resolution. Explain why low-income housing is important to maintaining San Francisco's healthy diversity. Show why the loss of 150 affordable housing units would be so harmful to the City. Testify that putting up to 150 families, disabled persons, and members of the working poor out on the street does no one any good.
