Sacramento: 2500 Deaths War Protest at 16th & Broadway, this Saturday

by come out to this event!
Please come out to 16th & Broadway this Saturday, June 17th, from 6:30 pm to
9:00 pm, to protest the unnecessary killing of over 2,500 U.S. soldiers and
over 150,000 Iraqi men, women and children. Protest 6:30-8:30, Candlelight
Vigil 8:30-9:00.

While every death is a grim milestone, today's announcement that the U.S.
toll has surpassed 2,500 means that the media will be talking about it.
Since their attention is on it, this is an important time for us to gather
in solidarity and help draw more public attention to the consequences of
war.

This is also a time when showing the names and faces of those who have died
(such as a large photo of Casey Sheehan), flag-draped coffins, and other
images of war, can be particularly important.

In addition to bringing signs and banners, people are encouraged to make use
of other forms of imagery. We need powerful displays. Dramatic artistry
has worked well, such as when the masked faces of death and drummers led a
funeral march through the crosswalks. These kinds of things are more
relevant now than ever before.

To ensure strong attendance, please forward this to others; and bring your
friends, banners, flags, signs, art, candles and instruments to 16th &
Broadway this Saturday.

We look forward to seeing you!

sidewalks for non-participant pedestrians to pass without obstructions.
