La Otra Campaña (the Other Campaign) is the Zapatista’s response to Mexican election politics in an election year, a countrywide tour to activate the anti-capitalist, grassroots left and enact new constitutional reforms that will stymie the neoliberal agenda. John Gibler, a Global Exchange human rights fellow in Mexico who has been covering the Zapatistas' Other Campaign since January 1st, will speak on the Other Campaign and present two short documentaries on the May 4th massive police raid in San Salvador Atenco.

Gibler was present in Atenco and has since conducted scores of interviews with victims and witnesses. He collaborated with both documentaries which include direct film footage from Atenco as well as photographs, interviews, and archival footage. Each video is about 40 minutes long in Spanish with English subtitles. The films show the incredible and systematic use of police brutality in Atenco, breaking the information black hole enforced by major US media in their refusal to cover the violence or analyze its political nature.
