Don't let the City of Sacramento shut down our only Vegan Food Truck!
Local merchants Roots N Kulchah, the 100% vegan food truck, is under attack! The City of Sacramento is proposing an ordinance that will have an adverse effect on the operation of mobile food trucks and venders, and criminalize those who do not follow the ordinance! Call your council members/country supervisers, and come to the hearing!
Please help by getting the word out. Roots N Kulchah, the ONLY vegan food truck in the city of Sacramento, will be affected by this negative change. Below is a letter from the owners of Roots N Kulchah:
Greetings Customers of Roots N Kulchah;
There is a proposed ordinance that will affect our business. The ordinance will be debated by the city on June 20 at 12:30pm. The current ordinance states that mobile food vendors operating in the City of Sacramento may stop at one location for only 15 minutes at a time, and that vendors operating on private property are exempt from the 15 minute rule. We currently vend on private property from 6am to 8:30pm. On Wednesday, April 12, the city held a meeting to let mobile vendors know what they are planning. They are trying to stop mobile vending in an indirect way. They plan to shorten the hours of operation to 8pm on weekdays and 6pm on weekends, and to limit our vending time to 15 MINUTES even if we are on private property. Failure to comply will result in misdemeanor charges, which are one step below a felony. Basically they are saying they don't want this type of business in their city or county.
The supposed reasons for this new ordinance were that mobile vendors attracts crime, which is untrue, and that it is unsafe and unhealthy, even though all Vendors have to complete health training and the Truck must be inspected and approved by the health department. They also said it is unfair competition to the existing restaurants, even though restaurants have shelter when it rains and air conditioning when it is hot, and all we have is our truck!
Please contact your council members and let them know that you enjoy this type of business and you want to see the city grow culturally.
