The SF media trucks are at the rendez-vous at 3pm, Saturday, June 10 in front of the Villa's Parkmerced Apartments on Holloway and 19th avenue.
Shivering through the foggy, windy SF Ingleside District afternoon, in No Man's Land by State University (no one on the streets, or by their windows), folks arrive with colorful signs reading: "No Police Accountability", "Justice 4 Asa Sullivan", congregating one too many times again to pay respect to Brother Asa's family (one extended family member is present), and express their rage and sorrow about yet another innocent, unarmed 25 yr. Black Man brutally slaughtered by SFPD on June 7th, 2006, while police claim he held an eyeglass case that they honestly (?) thought was a gun (maybe every SFPD officer should be routinely issued prescription glasses to end their confusion)
A modest crowd of forty has responded to the outcry and impromptu request for support from the four entities who spearheaded Justice for Asa Sullivan Rally and Protest:
Justice4CammerinBoyd (Marylon Boyd),
Justice4GusRugley (Elvira Pollard),
Police Observers Working to Effect Reform (P.O.W.E.R, Patrisha Tullock)
and Idriss Stelley Foundation (mesha Monge-Irizarry)
Among the protesters are:
Denise D'Anne (The Juvenile Defender)
Don Cane and Bill Croasley (Vanguard workers)
Dr. E. Kamin (2003 Police reform Task Force)
Elvira Pollard (Mother of Gus Rugley)
Gloria Lariva (SF ANSWER &Chronicle Unionist)
Krissie Keefer (candidate for Congress)
Kathy Perry, Ace Washington and mesha Monge-Irizarry (African American Community Policing Relations Board, Western Addition and South East Sector Branches)
PamPam Gaddies, (Peacemakers), Bob Livingstone &Gail Meadows, drumming
Patrisha Tullock (P.O.W.E.R)
Tami Bryant, (Unionist)
The Family of Cammerin Boyd
The unanimous message is loud and clear: each speaker gets on the mike (CH 2, 5, 7, 11, 29), demanding true police reform, urging District Attorney Kamala Harris to instantly investigate all PD murders for the past 10 years, and demanding for Chief Heather Fong to stop protecting rogue and racist cops.
As stated by Patrisha Tullock, director of P.O.W.E.R:
"Another Unarmed Young Black Man Shot Dead by SFPD...Is there any excuse for more of this madness?
Asa Sullivan, age 25, is SFPD murder victim number 17 over the past 10
years. Asa, like all of the 8 other young Black victim of cop murder over the
past decade, was shot while unarmed. The cops had no lawful reason
for going to the house where Asa lived. Asa had not broken any laws when the cops unloaded on his young body....In fact, no one at the home had broken any laws either. The cops claim that they got a report that Asa and others in the apartment were squatting there. The Parkmerced Apartment manager says that all occupants were legally in the house-NO ONE WAS SQUATTING THERE! Asa had a life. He was employed by Goodwill and was living at a friend's house at the Parkmerced Apartments. ALL MATTER OR NONE MATTER! ".
As some of the corporate press starts trickling down, we start marching, headed by Marylon Boyd, around the Villas Park Merced Apartments complex, chanting "Justice for Asa Sullivan" up to the now empty apartment when Brother Asa, father of a 5 yr. son, abruptly lost his young life after hiding into a 2 feet crawl space, frightened by the police. A middle aged White woman steps out of her house: "I just want you to know some of us are with you ! Keep fighting for justice, Asa should be alive!" and quickly steps back inside, seemingly afraid to join us.
On each street level window, signs reading "I LIVE HERE, PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!" are posted from the inside of the apartment. By the front door, 2 candles on the asphalt, engraved with hastily hand printed words: "RIP ~ WE LOVE YOU ASA"... Marylon Boyd quietly kneels down to add signs in support of ASA's family and demands for justice by the candles.
Three teenage girls who live in the neighborhood join the protest. The corporate press, not surprisingly so, refuse to interview them...One of the young girls approaches a cop standing near by:
"Officer, isn't it illegal to shoot an unarmed man?"
"No, It's called suicide"...
Now beware, good citizens of San Fran-psycho, holding an eyeglass case in front of a police officer while Black is Suicide By KKKop..., little did young Brother Asa, who paid it with his life, knew...
Two African American police officers are parked at close range, soon joined by a plain clothe officer, who quickly gets on her cell phone, surely calling for back up to disperse us. She never lets me shoot her picture, after a quick heinous glare, she keeps turning her back, stocky, short military style gray hair, white female. Don't you worry Boo, we're leaving, but we'll be back! Grieving parents of PD Murder Victims, United, will Never be Defeated!
How long are we going to stand SFPD Serving and Protecting the Rich? How many of our Poor, Black and Brown babies will continue being innocent targets of PD Man Hunt and Managed Mayhem? Prop H has failed us miserably, a disgusted Theresa Sparks resigned from being SF Police Commission Vice president...
Let us forever remember our SF Slaughtered Angels, executed by the Thugs in Blue...

SFPD: do the crime = DO THE TIME!
As Krissie Keefer gives me a ride back to Idriss Safe Heaven in Bayview, I wonder:
Have all our babies murdered by PD met yet on the other side? Are they watching our backs while we fight the formidable KKKilling Machine, whose paid assassins enjoy total impunity, laterally switched to administrative duties or better yet rewarded by promotion after each cold blooded execution of our children?
Officer Isaac Espinoza, allegedly killed By David Hill in 2004, is now a National Hero.
Our unsung heroes' souls are still hollering for Justice...Each time a young Brother or Sister is murdered by the police, we, the mothers and fathers, children and friends relive every horrific second when we heard the incredible news: "Died at the Scene", "Suicide By Cop", "High speed chase ended up in casualty", "We thought he/she had a gun", "the investigation is still open, we can't say anything", "We had to protect our lives, the community", ad nauseam...
6-13-06 is the dreaded 5th year anniversary of my only child Idriss Stelley's murder by SFPD.... God helps us all. We are parents transcending the horror and grief, extending our love and fighting spirit to the stricken family, and child of Brother Asa Sullivan. You will not be forgotten!
