Why do we wear masks? This is why!

by a concerned citizen
Locally, I've heard criticisms of those of us to choose to hide our identity and question the practice of police filming of protests and demostrations. This is why. Shout out to all the citizens of Portland, OR and the world who continue to resist the police state, which is not on its way, but already here and firmly established.

Eye of the Storm uses video footage shot by the police to confirm how the police target citizens engaged in constitutionally protected acts of protest for harassment, assault, and arrest. The police, by their own admission, assault law-abiding protesters without provocation then lie about being provoked. These lies were carried and repeated ad-nauseum by the corporate media without any regard for the truth. The corporate media is shown being complicit in, and even supportive of, flagrant police misconduct. Those perceived as "leaders" by the police are often singled out for surveillance, assault, and arrest regardless of the fact that those individuals have broken no laws and committed no crimes. The police kept this footage despite laws prohibiting the collection of information on individuals engaged in political dissent. The police stated that activist video footage only told one "side" of the story, now everyone can see the other "side".

awesome video
by Becky Johnson
I knew that when cops started making videotapes of their actions in order to have proof to charge us with in court (or to exonerate themselves from false claims) the end product would be to exonerate us and to convict them.

The video and commentary is well worth watching, although a little too editorial with the Nazi stuff, for my taste.

Its also a reminder that if you are ever arrested, you can subpoena the police video for your own defense. Sometimes plead/lose public pretenders don't want to do that extra work or worry they will generate ill will from the police dept.

She has way too much faith in a system known to destroy and manipulate evidence.
