Hate Rally Plans Found During Supremacist Arrest
May 26, 2006 - A local man was arrested and led away from his home in handcuffs Friday morning. Authorities say he had been planning a large skin-head rally.
When officers went inside his house, they say they found weapons and much more.
Authorities raided the home near Coarsegold on Friday, because the man living there had violated his probation. That's when officials say they discovered something much bigger.
Police believe Bobby Hubbard's home in Coarsegold was supposed to be the gathering place for hundreds of white supremacists this weekend.
Now, those plans are in question after Hubbard was arrested Friday morning on weapons charges.
Handcuffs and an escort to a police car did not keep suspected white supremacist Bobby Hubbard quiet. He even told Action News plans were still on for a weekend hate rally, despite his arrest.
The Madera County gang taskforce found Ku Klux Klan items, several guns and signs of what was to come this weekend.
"There's a stage in the rear of the property that has been recently built, there's also a sign that he had painted that said Unity Fest on it," said Mike Haroldson, from the gang taskforce.
A flyer posted on a white supremacist website said Unity Fest 2006 is a family event that will feature several rock bands, food and a cross burning ceremony.
The flyer never gave an exact location for the event, but police say they are sure the event was going to be held at Hubbard's home, just off Highway 41 in Coarsegold.
Hubbard is in the Madera County jail and faces charges of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
The Madera County Sheriff's department says they will step up patrols around the area for any signs of a rally.
Action News has learned Bobby Hubbard's wife is a teacher at a local school.
Students say Donna Hubbard is a well liked teacher at Duncan Polytechnical High School in Fresno.
Donna Hubbard has not been accused of any wrongdoing, but was at home when her husband was taken into custody.
Investigators say the white supremacist rally was going to happen on her and her husband's property.
Action News tried to approach her for comment, but she refused.
