CONTRA LA MILITARIZACION Y EL ASESINATO EXTRAJUDICIAL EN LA FRONTERA

La reciente decisión del presidente George W. Bush de desplegar guardias nacionales a la frontera, así como la iniciativa en el Congreso de la Unión Estadounidense (respaldada tanto por los partidos demócratas como republicanos) de crear un sistema para la importación de mano de obra barata, la construcción y fortalecimiento de un muro de fierro entre México y Estados Unidos y otras medidas represivas y militaristas que van de la mano con dicha iniciativa nos debe, como mexicanos, poner en altera del estado de represión que nos espera a manos de este gobierno. También estos acontecimientos nos debe servir como ímpetu para organizarnos y defender nuestros derechos humanos y democráticos y nuestras garantías universales.

El Presidente Bush, sin oposición alguna del PRI/PAN Gobierno de Vicente Fox en México, ha, unilateralmente decidido, así como lo hizo en Irak, imponer un estado de guerra y una solución militarista a la problemática migratoria y a la población mexicana y Latinoamericana. Se pretende imponer un nuevo muro con sensores y otros tiliches represivos. Se pretende imponernos un "programa de trabajadores huéspedes" que sustituya una regularización de trabajadores migrantes. Ahora, en un acto sumamente bélico en contra del pueblo mexicano, se pretende mandar a mas de 6,000 agentes de la Guardia Nacional a la región fronteriza-fomentando un clima de odio e histeria de parte de sectores de la población anglosajona (véase cazamigrantes y crímenes de odio que son la orden del día en muchas partes) y buscando intimidarnos de defender nuestra dignidad y nuestra humanidad.

La atrocidad mas reciente fue el asesinato de un chofer de una panel que buscaba regresar a México por parte de Oficiales migratorias y policíacas. Este hecho, combinado con la cierre de la Garita de San Ysidro por un periodo prolongado, la detención de testigos, y el haber dejado el cadáver de la victima en el carro, para intimidar a nuestra comunidad-nos demuestra claramente una guerra de baja intensidad en contra de nuestro pueblo por parte de las autoridades del Gobierno de Bush - obviamente para disuadirnos de manifestarnos y defendernos.

Estas tácticas intimidatorios no funcionarán.
La Coalición Pro-Derechos de la Raza hace un llamado a todo nuestro pueblo, así como todas las comunidades migrantes y oprimidas a organizarse y oponerse, en la forma mas contundente que se pueda a estas tácticas fascistas.

Against the Militarization of the Border and the Extrajudicial Assassination

The recent decision by US President George W. Bush to send over 6,000 National Guard troops to the Border region, as well as the initiative in Congress (supported by Democrats and Republicans alike) to create a "guest worker" (modern slave labor) program which does nothing to regularize the status of millions of migrant workers but does put in place a strengthened steel wall equipped with electronic gadgets to attack our people should put the entire Mexican community on a state of alert and should show clearly what to expect from the US government. This turn of events should also serve as an impetus to organize in defense of our democratic and human rights on an unparalleled scale.

George Bush, with virtually no opposition from the PRI/PAN government of Vicente Fox in Mexico has unilaterally decided-as he did in Iraq-to impose a militaristic solution to the migratory issue and upon Mexicans and all Latin Americans. He has announced his wall with its electronic gadgets, the cancellation of any hope for regulation of migratory status for the workers who prop up this economy, and the placing of National Guard troops in a clear intent not to deter migration, but to stop our community from organizing itself in its own defense. In doing so, Bush is whipping up a hate filled climate among the Anglo Population in a time during which racist attacks on our community are the order of the day, as vast sectors of Anglos fancy themselves "minutemen" with the right to attack everyone.

The most recent atrocity, the shooting to death of the driver of a van that was attempting to go back into Mexico at the hands of Police and Immigration Officials on Thursday May 18 at the world busiest border crossing, is an example of the consequences of Militarizing the border. This excessive use of force, combined with the closing of the San Ysidro/Tijuana Port of Entry into Mexico, the detention of witnesses, and the leaving of the driver's body in the vehicle for a prolonged period as a message of intimidation-show that Bush and his cabinet have enacted a Low Intensity War to dissuade us from defending ourselves and demonstrating.

The Raza Rights Coalition makes it clear that these fascist tactics will not intimidate us. We make a call to our community, and to all oppressed communities to organize and oppose these fascist tactics-ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
